Spanista Self Care Is A One Way Journey To Joy.

Welcome Back Wellness Seekers,

Thanks for returning for Part 2 of  my wellness mission story. Today I will share how Spanista Lifestyle Blog took meaningful shape on a notebook page I sketched on the day it blossomed in my heart. Looking back, it seems a higher power was working through me. I return to it regularly as a treasured reminder of the mission that came to me through that inspiring spa experience. Since then I invested time in researching, studying iconic voices and asking many people for their thoughts and feelings. In Part 1, I suggested that we deserve ‘more in life’….but what is ‘the more’ really all about?  To me it is about seeing ourselves through a new lens. It means embracing a new style of self awareness while addressing stress points to consider dealing with the effects.

This led me to an insightful point of view. I believe that in this fast paced, complex world we all seek real human connection and comfort, however my revelation is we should prioritize our efforts differently . Because we focus most of our energy on others, thanks to all the new technologies we can stay engaged – we therefore lack a relationship with the most important person in our lives – ourselves. We suppress our hunger to know ourselves more deeply – To uncover the true wellspring to joyful living. To get in touch with ourselves – Open our vast resources within to help us live a richer life.

I suggest this should be a new priority for true wellbeing  – having a healthy relationship with ourselves!  Spanista recognizes this goes beyond physical wellness to deep emotional wellbeing.

For me, when I finally realigned my life to focus on time for self awareness to recognize and put my needs first, ritually with time devoted to regular message therapy, where ever I was in the world, the practice became a catalyst, something major shifted inside me in unbelievably good ways. I began to take charge of my self care experience. I got out of my mind and into my body to get in touch with my true feelings. For me the ritual of massage therapy helps me focus on what my body feels. It brings body, heart and mind  into the present. I move from being stressed, distracted and ‘out of touch’ to ‘in touch’ by really feeling in the moment.  For example, in one post massage deep reflection session, I was in a euphoric state of mind and a powerful thought occurred to me – Could others benefit from what I am experiencing? This amazing level of joy I feel, that carries me forward in a happier state of mind – helping me be who I was intended to be and in turn I express that to the world around me. Could this learning make a difference in others lives too?

That is what inspired me to create Spanista as a Lifestyle Resource where anyone who is seeking a better way to wellbeing can come together around the themes of self care, spa culture, solutions and sharing experiences. Through my personal posts you will discover inspiration to become a Spanista too if you like and stage your own self  care journey to joy. You will discover ‘How to Self Care’ ideas and ways to explore Spa Culture through Spanista Values System – Reflections, Rituals and Resources. This includes ways to evaluate Spa Salons that go beyond basic reviews so you get more out of the experience. Or make your home a place for a Spa experience too. Over the last few months I have explored various ways to shape this platform and make it meaningful. Please take a moment check it out the Menu tab ‘Philosophy’. Plus as part of the conversation I will post on these topics and create more features with your encouragement matters to me.

I welcome your thoughts on how to make this platform inspiring, fun and useful to you. We can all learn from each other – if you are experienced Spanista or not. Anyone can adopt many of these practices at home or take them on the road if you travel. Or begin a practice by selecting the right Spa Salon that understands what you want and need from your personal experience. Practicing the Spanista Lifestyle is what I do to stay in touch and keep the positive feeling of joy alive.

If the spirit calls you and you want to learn more, won’t you join me to begin your personal Spanista Self Care Journey To Joy by signing up for my posts? And please share this with your friends too. With your help we can watch community evolve. Thank you again for stopping by for Part 2. Stay tuned for my next post.

Dear Wellness Seekers,

Spanista Introduces In Touch Tableau Home Spa Series. As you may recall from my first posts, a Self Care practice that brings the Spanista Philosophy to life is the Personalized Value System you customize to fit your desires. It’s fun. With all the stresses of everyday life taking a toll on us, we need to adopt Self Care Practices to restore our equilibrium and wellbeing as a stress management tool.

One of the R’s is in the Value System is RITUALS. Since conceiving of Spanista, I experimented with what works for me. I discovered that creating a spa experience at home can be as satisfying as one at a professional salon. (In a future post I will explore the pros and cons of each.) It just takes experimenting to determine what elements help you relax, get in touch and restore. Then put it into regular practice. This really can be fun as it is like a cooking recipe – it is all about the right ingredients, in the right measures, presented in a beautiful way. And the good part is you get to indulge in the experience.

The first joyful step is in preparing your tableau. Setting the stage is so important for your state of mind. Creating a satisfying presentation just for you is an indulgence you deserve. The personal ambiance  and special touches enhance your experience.  My favorite is a bath experience so my featured In Touch Tableau pic with an “Endless Summer” seasonal theme displaying some of my favorite things that make me feel happy.

Please do explore what works for you as your consider the beautiful inspiration Summer offers us. One of my favorite Rituals is setting aside Thursday night for my In Touch Spa Experience. It is a Self Care practice I look forward to the entire week where I plan 90 minutes, just for me. My favorite is a bath experience so my featured In Touch Tableau pic with an “Endless Summer” includes bringing in a new fragrance collection I discovered at Anthropologie. It is called Coconut Milk Mango I found this scent to be so healing and refreshing for late summer with bath crystals, candle, skin cream, soap and roller ball fragrance. The wonderful book ” Summers In France”  I found in a boutique in Melbourne, Australia but can be found on Amazon.

My bath becomes a spa escape for that time with focus on taking care of me. The door closes and I leave the world behind. The aim is to detach for a short time. Let your mind be with you – through calmness to move from being out of touch with yourself  to getting in touch. To really ‘feel’ you need to get out of your head and into your body – allow your true nature of happiness to surface. After my Spanista In Touch Tableau Home Spa experience, I feel transformed. My heart feels lighter, my body cared for and my mind clearer. I put my needs first for a short time and it restores me with a happy heart. Now I can bring my best self to others.

Please do explore what works for you as your consider the beautiful inspiration the Spanista “Endless Summer” offers us. It is so much fun.

Let me know about your experiences and how they made you feel. Feel a positive change?

Watch for the next In-Touch Tableau coming soon.

Waking Up to a New Dawn And New Way To Wellness – Tampa Bay, Florida

Hello Wellness Seekers,

Ginny Shiverdecker here, Spanista Lifestyle Blogger sharing a unique idea that blends The Art of Self Care with Spa Culture. Welcome to Spanista where the conversation takes flight.

May I share my story?  Tampa Bay, Florida is my home base when I am not traveling for my style of adventure. In addition to my love of fashion, my passions extend to all things that enhance our wellbeing including Spa Culture – what defines it, why it is so valuable for us today, and what it could evolve to in the future. My story is shaped by personal experience that began with a marketing career in retailing that took me from a small town in the Midwest to Madison Avenue and the global marketing stage. My journey was surely not a straight line. More like a zig zag with interesting stops along the way but it did bring me to where I am today – connecting with you on topic I feel deeply about.

While I love my magical career, I often felt that there was something missing. So hunger of soul went where I did feeling like an extra empty suitcase. Then while catching my breath at a spa in a remote resort, I had an awakening of the heart. A new purpose took hold deep within. After that break to restore myself, I returned to my demanding work routine, yet that epiphany continued to stir in my soul and grew in intensity until I no longer could resist it. So I decided to open up to embrace it fully. Yes, I shed my old dependable life to follow a new path – to adopt a new philosophy for a different, more rewarding way of living – Embracing a self care journey to joy through the birth of The Spanista Lifestyle. Since devoting my time to developing Spanista, I realize what a difference sharing this is making in my life.  As someone wiser than me once said, “I am not the same having seen the moon shine on the other side of the world,” I have been transformed by the experience of creating and sharing Spanista, to a level of happiness that has proven priceless.

During my travels, I reached out to others to discover many had similar curiosities and desires to feel deeper emotional wellbeing, so I knew I was not alone. Questions I posed were: What do you seek from a Spa Experience? What makes is satisfying and what does not? Could it play a more significant role in our quest for health and wellness? My diary is full of thoughts offered from people of all walks of life – Like you and me.  It helped to confirm my point of view: I believe that in this fast paced, complex world we all seek real connections and comfort, however my revelation is we should shift the effort in a different direction. We focus our energy on others, thanks to all the new technologies we can stay engaged, but we lack a relationship with the most important person in our lives – ourselves. We suppress our hunger to know ourselves more deeply – To uncover the true wellspring to joyful living. To get in touch with ourselves – Open our vast resources within to help us live a richer life. I suggest this should be a new priority!

Now that you know a bit about me and why Spanista came to be, my next post will offer Part 2 of the introduction. I will share what purpose Spanista  serves and how it has come to life in a meaningful way. My hope is The Spanista Lifestyle Blog will become a resource for you overtime and you will enjoy experiencing it as much as I do creating for you as I travel through my own personal self care journey to joy. Please feel free to share this with anyone in your life you feel may enjoy it.  And do welcome your thoughts. So stay tuned for Part 2  tomorrow – Saturday about the same time.

  • minor side - First of all I want to say fantastic blog! I had a
quick question that I’d luke to ask if you do not mind.

I was urious to find out how youu center yourself and clear your mind before writing.

I have had a hard time clearing my mind in getting my
thoughts out. I do enjoy writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are usually wasted just trying
to figure out how to begin. Anny ideas or tips? Many thanks!ReplyCancel

    • gshiver - Welcome to Spanista. Great question. While everyone is different here are three things that work for me: 1.Select and focus in on a topic and put it in a circle on a sheet of paper. Then take a Reflection Walk as this clears the mind – while walking explore the topic with your heart – What you wish to share?; 2. When you get back, jot down the ideas that came to you about the topic around the topic in the circle; 3. Then just start writing – do not edit yourself – get your first sentence down. Write from you heart not your head. Generally you will find this starts a flow of story. Get the basic narrative down and then go back and edit with your head. If you practice something like this as a RITUAL, you will find your heart, body and mind will respond automatically after time. Hope this helps. Please circle back and let me know how you progress. Not that I’m complaining, but sluggish loading instances

    • gshiver - Welcome to Spanista. Thank you for your feedback on the site experience. I have had some issues reported by my readers that are being addressed. You may have seen my post indicating I am in the process of upgrading Spanista. It is currently under construction so I appreciate your patience. Do come back and visit as next week I plan to be back online sharing Spanista’s recent trip to California Wine Country and San Francisco. To Your Self Care Journey To Joy, GinnyReplyCancel

  • gshiver - Welcome to Spanista. Yes, it is easy to put things off. I know I have. The thing to consider is YOU are worth it. Making your self care a priority requires a shift in thinking about things. Our society emphasizes the external value when it is our internal value that deserves equal attention. Take the first step to get “in touch” by scheduling a massage. I will be posting soon about what to look for in a neigborhood Spa. So stay tuned in.
    Thanks for the positive feedback.ReplyCancel
